"You were where?"
Nathan really couldn't believe Peter was serious. Well, at least not about the parallel universe he'd visited. Peter was actually not being serious at all, he was laying on their bed laughing like an insane person.
"In some kind of alternate timeline or something. I'm not even kidding you. Everyone we know was there but they were completely unlike themselves."
Nathan raised his eyebrows.
"What do you mean, unlike themselves?"
"Well," Peter started, sitting up and gesturing for Nathan to come sit next to him, which he did. "For starters, you remember Mohinder telling us that when he first met Sylar he was pretending to be this guy he killed named Zane?"
Nathan nodded. He'd heard the story as many times as everyone else. To be quite frank, it got old real fast.
"Yeah," he replied. "He fell in love with him and vice versa, now they live happily ever after except for some weird sex on the ceiling kink."
Peter giggled.
"In this world, that never happened. Momo tortured Sylar and then Sylar killed me but I came back to life thanks to Bennet's daughter who was your daughter there."
Now Nathan really thought his brother was making this up.
"I had a daughter?"
"Yep, and a wife and two sons. Oh, and we'd never gotten together. You obviously still wanted me desperately but me jumping you when I was in high school didn't happen. And I was a total slut who liked girls."
Nathan couldn't help but smirk at that.
"So except for the girl thing, you were pretty much you?"
Peter swatted at him.
"I apparently jumped anything that moved. And I'm pretty sure I liked Claire, who was really my niece there. What I saw had me stealing Isaac's girlfriend - and he was a heroin addict too, weird - and then he shot her and got killed by Sylar and then lots of other stuff happened and I had my memory erased and I was in Ireland and I boned some Irish slut. For all she knew, I could have been infested with disease and she just didn't care. And then I left her in a possible future on accident. I'm pretty sure if she gets back she'll do background checks on guys before she sleeps with them."
Peter got all this out in one breath and then fell over laughing at the look on Nathan's face.
"I know, so ridiculous, huh?"
Nathan nodded and realized he had a question.
"And how long did all this take?"
"A while I guess," Peter looked thoughtful and then shrugged. "It didn't seem like that long and then I was back here and it's only been a day."
He scooted close and snuggled into Nathan.
"I'm glad to be back."
Nathan put a hand under Peter's chin and lifted it, kissing him softly.
"I'm glad you're back, too. Now," he started unbuttoning the empath's shirt, "thanks to that universe traveler or whatever he was, I've been an entire day without getting laid and you've gone without me for even longer. What do you say we make up for that?"
Peter merely phased out of his clothes and slid onto Nathan's lap.
"I think that's the best idea you've ever had."
